Finding the best platform for embedded development is a challenge, and mistakes are very costly. Developers have to manage such decisions as ease of development, speed, footprint size and cost. The combination of the db.* embedded database and the fast, flexible and easy-to-use MontaVista Linux OS creates an ideal development platform for alternative and resource-constrained devices.
ITTIA is announcing the availability of ITTIA ODBC 4.1. This add-on product allows users to unlock the database via a custom ODBC driver, as well as enabling access and manipulation of data in applications created with db.* and Birdstep embedded databases and their predecessors. (These programs include: Raima Database Manager ™, RDM™, Velocis™, db.Vista ™, and RDM Embedded™.*)
ITTIA is releasing db.* 2.0 to its community members (Club ITTIA). Club ITTIA is a mobile and embedded database community, where developers come together to share information.
Almost all devices made these days have a microprocessor, and microprocessors will become ubiquitous as time passes. Many devices are based on ARM processors. ARM is a leader in producing cost-effective and power-efficient processors for mobile devices and ITTIA is proud to announce that it has confirmed db.* support for Linux on the ARM processor.
With Sun’s announcement and release of open source Solaris, ITTIA is announcing support for use of db.* with Solaris. This powerful database and operating system combination has been tested and proven in ITTIA’s labs and is ready for wide deployment.
